Welcome to the home of the first ever CARDIFF 5K - Race for Victory
We were delighted to bring this new event to Whitchurch Village, a leafy suburb of Cardiff, on the evening of Sunday 1st May 2016

Many thanks to the 742 runners that finished and to everybody that came along to support them and the event.
Participants will be able to Race, Run, Jog or Walk this never used before, closed road, 5K race route; and either take part to raise funds for their chosen Charity or just for the Fun...the choice is theirs.
The race starts at 7pm.
Welsh Athletics, which will be timed and official results will be posted.
All Runners get a Race For Victory T-shirt (if you enter before 25th April it will be the special Cardiff 5K Run T-shirt featuring names of all those taking part).

After the Race there will be plenty going on in the village for all the family to enjoy such as live music, food stalls, and much more, until 11pm!
MORE THAN JUST A RACEThe Runners Village is located in the centre of Whitchurch Village.
This area houses all the amenities and will be the hub of the event:
- Race HQ
- Event information Point
- Bag Drop off
- Start / Finish Gantry
- Media Wall
- Live Music Stage
- Street Food Stalls
- And an array of local Cafes, Restaurants and Pubs
Everybody is welcome and we would like to see as many people as possible getting into the sporting spirit and having fun
The entry fee covers the event infrastructure, organisation and administration

We CANNOT accept any entries on the day
The Race is under the rules and regulations of Welsh Athletics
All entrants MUST be at least 11 years old.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL ON THE NIGHT
1. REGISTRATION & T-SHIRT COLLECTION
Race HQ will be located in the centre of the Village and will be clearly signposted
Please print off your entry invoice and bring it with you between 10am until 6pm on the day of the event (Sunday 1st May) to collect your race pack
As it is likely to be very busy closer to the start time please make sure you collect your race pack in plenty of time as it includes your Race Number and Timing Chip
Everybody will receive a Cardiff 5K - Race For Victory T-shirt (size selection at point of registration)
*IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU COULD WEAR THE RACE T-SHIRT TO START THE EVENT, ALTHOUGH THIS IS NOT A REQUIREMENT*
2. CHECK IN
Please arrive at least 1 hour before the 7pm start time
3. WARM UP
The warm up will start at 6.30pm and will help to get everyone in the Run Spirit!
4. START & ROUTE
Start Time 7pm
The route will be clearly marked and marshalled
The route is mostly over a smooth road surface, however this surface maybe slippery due to the time of year, so please take care and wear the appropriate footwear
The Finish gantry is on Merthyr Rd in Whitchurch Village
The Race is under the rules and regulations of Welsh Althetics, so it will be timed and official results will be posted
6. POST RACE
We have loads of things taking place before and after the Race (YOU are the main Attraction)

Q: What is the inclement weather policy?
A: The Cardiff 5K - Race for Victory is scheduled to take place in good weather or light rain.
In the case of inclement and dangerous weather, we reserve the right to postpone, shorten the route or cancel the event should the safety of event participants and volunteers become threatened.
In the event of a cancellation, customer service will remain a top priority, however refund of registration fees will NOT be possible.
Please check this website and your email before the race for any changes or cancellations.
This goes towards covering the event infrastructure, organisation and administration
You don't have to raise any sponsorship money to run this race.
However, we would be delighted if you choose to raise sponsorship for your chosen charity.
You can do this in a number of ways:
1. Contact the charity of your choice and ask them to send you a sponsorship sponsor form
2. Create your own personalised online sponsorship page via any of the Charity Fundraising Websites
3. Cancer Research Wales are our preferred charity partner and we'd be delighted if you chose to run and raise sponsorship on their behalf.

Sorry, but NO DOGS will be allowed on the course
Please come along to support your friends and family; or even better enter yourself!
The event program with timings and attractions will be posted closer to the event date
Toilets are available at the start and finish You are free to use the toilets in all the pubs and cafes in the village
There are very limited changing areas, so please Arrive Ready To GO
Refreshments will be available for you to purchase at the Start / Finish area
Parking is limited within the area of the village so please refrain from using your car, or park away from the general area to avoid over congestion

The 5K Course
On Sunday 1st May 2016 a temporary road closure will be implemented from 4pm till 12 midnight on the section of Merthyr Road between The Plough and the Fino Lounge.
This will house the Start / Finish Area
The race starts at 7pm To ensure the safety of competitors / marshals and the public it will involve the implementation of a temporary rolling road closure for a short period of time between 7pm and 8pm to the anticlockwise side of the road route
All the road closures will be controlled and managed by the Cardiff City Council Traffic Management Team
